Bush Survival Guide

Much of the natural beauty of Australia lies in the remote landscape, the rugged gorges and vast expanses of bushland, just waiting to be explored and experienced. Before you "go bush", remember to:

  • Tell a friend where you are going and when you are expecting to return.
  • Carry additional water and food.
  • Carry a signal device, such as a flare, mirror or EPIRB.
  • Source your vehicle from a quality vehicle rental company who have an extended mechanical vehicle audit on every returned rental vehicle.
  • Carry extra tyres.
  • Make sure you know how to use 4WD.
  • Plan your journey using current maps.
  • Contact a friend to inform them of any change in plans.
  • If possible, carry some type of communication equipment, UHF radio, satellite phone, etc.

If you become stuck:

  • Park so you can be seen
  • Stay with your vehicle
  • Conserve your food and water
